Æ MAK interview with NME

Æ MAK have spoken with NME on the importance of tackling gender inequality in the music industry, after becoming the first group signed to a major new programme that aims to improve the diversity of acts at major music festivals.

Æ MAK are the first act chosen for ReBalance 2018 with Festival Republic & PRS Foundation– a new initiative that will address the gender imbalance in the music industry.

The Leeds-based project will provide studio recording to a female musician, solo artist or female-featuring band each month from 2018 through 2020. Studio and engineering costs will be paid for by Festival Republic and the artists selected will be given slots at a major festival. Æ MAK will perform at Latitude Festival 2018, as Aoife McCann explains in the NME article.
